For this 2026 edition’s of the France Design Week, I will exhibit prototypes of “FLEX” my proposals for the 2026 Kernel “Reuse” call to proposal.
When aerospace carbon fibre becomes furniture.
How can we give a second life to a material as technical as carbon fibre from the aerospace industry?
With FLEX, designer Pierre Foulonneau rises to this challenge by creating a furniture range that brings together two worlds: reused carbon fibre – which is lightweight, robust and flexible – and steel sourced from end-of-life construction site barriers.
Born out of a collaboration between Airbus Atlantic, Edalis Solution Technique, Le Comptoir Du Carbone and SISCO COMPOSITES, this project demonstrates that reuse can be synonymous with simplicity, functionality and desirability.
Thanks to understated design and expert manufacturing processes, the bench and stool showcase the full elegance of carbon fibre, whilst giving new life to materials originally intended for other purposes.
FLEX illustrates design’s ability to build bridges between industrial sectors, expertise and materials, to imagine new, more responsible uses.
Discover this project and meet the designers who are reinventing the uses of tomorrow at Kernel “Reuse” 2026.
