This pitcher is my first collaboration with Hilke Collection AB, a Swedish brand that offers interior design products and jewelry in classic, feminine and stylish designs with a modernist twist. The vision behind the brand is to create timeless and beautiful design for modern and elegant homes, created with love and responsible production.
I met Giovanna Hilke (the founder of the brand) in the fall of 2023 and shortly after she told me about her idea to create an object to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the very first Moomin book. It was clear from the beginning that “The Moomins and the great flood” held a very special place in her heart and how much this was a life changing story for her.
It was obvious that this object had to be connected with water, hence the pitcher, and we quickly agreed that the object aesthetic should be really special, with the good-heartedness, friendliness and warmth of the Moomin Charaters’ at the core of its design. We also worked hand in hand with our manufacturing partner to produce an object that will stay on people’s tables for generations.
The result is an elegant 1.5 L stainless steel pitcher seamlessly merging iconic charm with literary inspiration and produced in a limited edition of a 1000 copies only.
